The Ray of Hope Walk is...
...a movement
...a proclamation
...a form of resistance
...an agent of change
We Believe Every Woman has a RIGHT:
• To live free of intimidation,
• To express her ideas or opinions,
• To make her own choices,
• To equity,
• To receive justice,
• To tell her story and be heard!
Proceeds will go towards our beneficiary, PAVE (Promoting Awareness, Victim Empowerment)
PAVE is a multi-chapter national 501c3 nonprofit organization that uses education and action to shatter the silence of sexual violence through targeted social, educational, and legislative tactics. PAVE was created to shatter the silence of sexual violence using education and action and values survivor voices as one of the strongest tools to shatter violence by engaging both men and women.
VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS is one of the most systematic and widespread human rights violations.
It is rooted in gendered social structures rather than individual and random acts; it cuts across age, socio-economic,educational and geographic boundaries; aff ects all societies; and is a major obstacle to ending gender inequality and discrimination globally. (UN General Assembly, 2006)
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Ray of Hope Walk to End Violence Against Women aims to raise awareness of a global epidemic affecting the lives of women, children, and families. Every 15 seconds a woman is physically assaulted by an intimate partner. In the United States, over 22 million women have been victims of sexual assault in their lifetime. The ROHW will shed light on the various forms of violence against women and girls, and also raise funds to assist organizations working towards ending gender based violence.
